PROJECT STATUS: PROTOTYPING
Alta is building a world-first prototype by retrofitting an old 2300 class locomotive to work with a 45-foot-long, 1.8 MWh battery tender for Aurizon. This project aims to extend the travel range of freight locomotives by an additional 400 km while kickstarting decarbonisation strategies across Australia’s freight industry.
